Prof. (Dr.) Deepti Omchery Bhalla is one of India’s most eminent exponents of Mohiniyattam, a classical dance tradition known for its grace and expressive depth. A distinguished scholar, performer, and educator, she has dedicated over 38 years to advancing Indian classical music and dance.
She has served as Head and Dean of the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts at the University of Delhi and is a top-graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan. With over a thousand performances worldwide, she has significantly contributed to the global recognition of India’s performing arts heritage.

Skill and Mastery:
Dr. Bhalla is internationally acclaimed for her mastery of Mohiniyattam, particularly her refined expression of lasya (graceful femininity), as well as her expertise in Carnatic vocal music.
Creativity and Innovation:
She has pioneered innovative choreographic works, including AMSHI – The Unsung Hero of India and Mohiniyattam–Kathak Jugalbandi, expanding the interpretative and narrative boundaries of classical dance.
Education and Mentorship:
For nearly four decades, she has mentored students and scholars, supervising numerous PhD candidates and conducting workshops globally, including at UCLA and SOKA University.
