Maria de Nazaré do Ribeiro, better known as Nazaré do Ó, a distinguished Brazilian cultural figure, is deeply embedded in the realm of popular culture, particularly Carimbó music. Born on October 10, 1953, in Soure on Marajó Island, she moved to Belém with her family in her early childhood. Nazaré was raised in a culturally vibrant environment, her family being significantly involved in various aspects of popular culture. She has studied and earned degrees from the Federal University of Pará in Artistic Education, Fine Arts, and Children's and Youth Literature, along with a postgraduate degree in the latter from Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais. She has also specialized in Environmental Education from Isebe-Isep/PA.

Nazaré's mastery is evident in her extensive involvement with Carimbó music and folk dance. Since 1984, she has been actively performing, creating, and advocating for the recognition of Carimbó as a Brazilian Intangible Cultural Heritage. Her efforts include composing music inspired by the stories and landscapes of Marajó Island and leading the Carimbó group Águia Negra. She also founded the folkloric group Vaiangá, significantly contributing to the preservation and promotion of Brazilian folk traditions.
