Mr. Thibe Nyepetsi, born on February 1, 1965, is a master practitioner of Dikopelo folk music of the Bakgatla ba Kgafela people in Botswana. Dikopelo is a UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage element in need of urgent safeguarding. Nyepetsi began his journey in Dikopelo in 1978, initially singing for Dinyorita (DYT) before founding his own choir, Matlapa a Leloto, formerly known as London. His exceptional talent as a composer, which he attributes to divine inspiration, has positioned him as a crucial figure in preserving and promoting this traditional music form.
