Lee Sun-Young is a Korean traditional music artist and educator specializing in pansori and Namdo minyo (southern folk songs). She earned her B.A. in Korean Music from Chonbuk National University, where she is currently engaged in graduate-level research and academic training. In addition to her artistic pursuits, she is actively involved in mentoring emerging talents and fostering the next generation of traditional music practitioners.Lee has received numerous national honors, including the Grand Prize at the Gimje Jipyeongseon National Korean Music Contest (National Assembly Speaker’s Award) and the Overall Grand Prize at the Seoul Seoripul Traditional Arts Competition (Mayor of Seoul Award). She studied under master singers Park Bong-Seon (Dongchoje Chunhyangga) and Shim Mi-Sook (Namdo folk songs), and holds certifications as a Level 2 Cultural Arts Educator and Level 1 Korean Folk Music Instructor.Her experience spans performance, teaching, and adjudication at national music contests. She continues to contribute to community cultural education programs and has served as a judge and performer at major heritage festivals and national competitions across Korea.As Director for Traditional Culture & Arts at Culture Masters, Lee leads heritage-based artistic programming, curates global artist collaborations, and advances sustainable cultural initiatives through education, innovation, and performance.
